Position Statement

Date: July 10, 2006

Subject: Recommendation to the Redwood Chapter from the Water Committee

Recommendation: The Redwood Chapter will send this attached letter objecting to the appointment of Mr. Bob Anderson to the North Coast Regional Water Quality Control Board due to a conflict of interest. (NCRWQCB) (see attached letter)

Rationale: Mr. Bob Anderson was appointed last year by Governor Schwarzenegger to the irrigated agriculture seat on the NCWQCB. Mr. Bob Anderson is a lobbyist for the wine industry which may impede his judgment in restricting water pollutions limits on the industry that he works for should he be confirmed to the appointment. Therefore, the Redwood Chapter urges Deputry Secretary of Appointments, Office of Governor Schwarzenegger that Mr. Bob Anderson not be confirmed to this appointment due to a conflict of interest.
