The purpose of this announcement-only list is to inform members of the Sonoma Group of local environmental events and issues, especially those which develop too quickly for publicity through other channels. Because the Needles Newsletter comes out every other month, there are times the local chapter does not find out about important action that needs to be taken in time for deadline.

Usually a notification by the ALERTS List is a call to action: to come to a meeting, make a phone call or write an e-mail or a letter.

IT'S EASY TO subscribe to THE REDWOOD-SONOMA-ALERTS list:

1. Send an e-mail to: LISTSERV@LISTS.SIERRACLUB.ORG and make the message text (not the subject): Subscribe Redwood-Sonoma-Alerts
2. Call the Environmental Center at 544-7651 and leave a message requesting you be added to the list with your name and e-mail address. Speak slowly and clearly.
3. Go to our local Sierra Club website: www.redwood.sierraclub.org, click on ALERTS SIGN-UP and follow the instructions there.
