Mendocino Group Report Horace Mann | |
|
The February meeting was a combined Executive Committee and membership meeting with 11 members present. Three issues were presented to the group for consideration. A proposal to delegate authority to David Drell to act on behalf of the group in support of TEA 21 funding for MTA site purchase and improvements in Willits and Fort Bragg was discussed and approved. A Draft Water Resolution was introduced and informational packets passed out for group consideration and vote in April. Member Horace Mann presented a draft letter to State Senator Chesbro asking that the CDF Ukiah Air Attack base budget not be cut and the facility and staff be retained. After some discussion the draft was accepted and Group Chair Guenther will prepare a formal letter for mailing. Summary of Committee Activity Membership chairman Bill Heil reported that he is in the process of drafting a group membership questionnaire and future event invitation. Bill indicated that member followp-up would be an important part of this effort. The traditional |
annual membership potluck may or may not be included as part of the event calendar. Forestry Chair Linda Perkins reported that she is working with the Friends of the Gualala to distribute the Sierra Club position paper on the Premier Pacific Longview Project to CALPERS, a major investor in the project. Land use committee chair Ron Guenther is considering organizing local groups to participate in a joint coastal trail walk with Coast Walk this year. Committee member Rixanne Wehren reported that four 5ac.BLAs for Albion headlands property have been targeted for public purchase. Laura Edminster updated the group on her effort to pursue the acquisition of handicap access motorized scooters for local State Park trail access. Next meeting of the group should be an interesting one and will be held on April First at 6pm in the Fort Bragg Public Library. |
