September GMO Forum:
The Lake Group had a successful "GMO Forum" at our September general meeting. We heard from a panel of experts, including Luke Anderson, author of the book 'Genetic Engineering, Food and Our Environment'; Dr. Kent Bradford, director of the UC Davis Seed Biotechnology Center; Dr. Broc Zoller, local plant pathologist; and Dr. Ignacio Chapella, UC Berkeley Microbial Ecologist.
Ed Robey - District 1 Supervisor race:
On the political front, as of this writing (November 5), it is still not known whether or not Ed Robey has been re-elected as our District 1 Supervisor. A record number of absentee ballots is still being counted. Postcards endorsing Ed were sent to our members by the Lake Group before the election.
