Help Needed - Get Involved Locally Solano Group has teamed up with several local movements to preserve and protect areas from development. Please get out and help these groups in your hometown. This event is put on by local environmental groups and the Project ARC Ecology. To volunteer please call Myrna at 707 557-9816 and keep checking the web site for updates. www.sfbayflywayfestival.com. ******** Coastal Cleanup in Solano County was a huge success thanks to all of you who volunteered. I apologize in advance for not listing all of your names here: Doris and Rollye Wiskerson, Bill Gibson, Phil McCullough, Al Molnar, Debbie and Kym Surani, Brita Bautin, L Lanaine, Suzanne Spillner. We had crews at two festivals in Vallejo monitoring the CRV recycling bins. Thanks to Steven Day and Craig for working at the DreadStock Festival in September and Christa Fooerchgott, Al Molnar, Duncan Collister, Sam McGee and Jane Bogner for working at the Waterfront Festival on October 3. Sierra Club gets to keep the CRV money from these events and is donating them to the local Ridge Trail committee for the printing of new maps for our Solano County Trails. We really appreciate all the help and to all of you who help out anonymously. I really appreciate the support. ******** Sierra Club/Solano Group Scholarship Recipient Justin Tabayoyon is the recipient of a 2004 Sierra Club/ Solano Group scholarship at Solano Community College. He grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and is currently living in Vacaville. He served honorably in the United States Army for three years and was stationed in Katterbach, Germany. He plans to attend UC Davis next fall, majoring in Managerial Economics. This is the 10th Scholarship awarded by the local Sierra Club. For more information please call 707 644-9183. |

Donate your cans to Sierra Club during CRV Buy Back hours. ******** VALCORE Recycling 2004 Workdays: Dec 11 (Vallejo Farmers Market). 2005: Jan 8, Feb 19, Apr 9, Jun 4, Jul 16, Aug 27, Sept 17, Nov 12. We work from 9 am to Noon. $50 is offered to volunteer supervisors for their favorite classroom. Call 644-9183. Thanks to all for bringing their valuable recyclables to Vallejo. Sierra Club earned a bonus of $25 for bringing in the most CRV from July-Sept. ******** Wanted: VALCORE Board Replacement Solano Group has been a member of VALCORE Recycling since 1985. Obligations for a board member include attending the monthly board meeting on the 4th Monday of each month at 6:30 in Vallejo and arranging volunteers for the 8 Saturday workdays at the recycling site. The list of regular volunteers is readily available. VALCORE has been our source of money needed to run our local group.
