Volunteer/Activist Opportunities

"Take nothing for granted. Not one blessed, cool mountain day
or one hellish desert day or one sweaty, stinky, hiking companion.
It is all a gift."

- Cindy Ross

Activist/Volunteers Needed:

Sonoma Group Membership Chair: Person needed to introduce new members to activities and groups within the Club. Person will attend Environmental Forums once a month and spend 2-3 hours meeting new members. Contact Diana: 823-4293.

Redwood Chapter Membership Chair: Welcome and match new members with their interests within the local Sierra Club, implement a new member contact plan, co-ordinate sharing information with Group Membership Chairs. Contact Margaret at penningt@sonic.net, 707-479-6682.

Sonoma County Reporters: Do you want to be involved with the Sierra Club, but live too far out to attend meetings? Perhaps you live in Cloverdale, Healdsburg, Windsor or Jenner, Bodega Bay, Occidental, Petaluma or Sonoma. The Conservation Committee wants to know about the issues in your community and to support your work. However, we need the information. We're looking for local "reporters" who will inform us monthly of the ongoing efforts to improve the environment and protect the integrity of our county. 1-2 hours a month written or email and Sierra Club membership required. Contact Marsha Taylor, Conservation Committee Chair, 546-9233.

Chair of Political Committees: Both Redwood Chapter and Sonoma Group have political committees and we need a chair for one or both groups. You would be involved with local leaders and current issues, learn about the local political scene and help to chose those who will work to protect our environment. For more information: Winona 5384749 or winonaL@aol.com.

Wilderness Campaign Volunteers: Protect California’s Wild Places! California residents and Sierra Club volunteers have a proud history of protecting its wild places through grassroots volunteerism and political activism. Now you can join us in one of California’s most ambitious campaigns to protect our remaining wild places. Dave Westman (510) 622-0290 ext.220, dave.westman@sierraclub.org.
